Common Cents seeks a youth development minded educator to support and take leadership for the implementation of Common Cents’ innovative service learning initiatives, most notably the Penny Harvest program.

The Program Associate manages the day-to-day implementation of the Penny Harvest, a school-based service-learning program operating in close to 800 New York City schools. This involves all aspects of program delivery including oversight of all materials and communications to and from schools throughout the program year. The Program Associate is responsible for training, supervising and supporting all school-support staff (4 full-time fellows and 10 part-time interns) who are in direct communication with hundreds of school-based program coordinators (teachers).

The Program Associate designs and operationalizes ongoing technical assistance for Penny Harvest schools in order to achieve efficient and effective customized support for a high volume of participating schools. The Program Associate systematizes the information gathered from schools to consistently improve program delivery and program outcomes for students and communities.

The Program Associate will report to the Program Director and supervise the School Partnership Fellow and the Operations Fellow. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing and training fellows and interns to successfully support Penny Harvest schools by creating and maintaining systems to assess school program quality, and offer appropriate responses in order to maximize program outcomes
• Managing college intern program including hiring, ongoing training and management
• Creating and administering all messaging and communications to participating schools including website content, fax newsletters, emails and phone outreach
• Overseeing logistical initiatives including delivery of program materials, coin pick-up and grants administration
• Managing the intake and processing of qualitative and quantitative data from schools to measure program effectiveness
• Overseeing school recognition initiatives including citywide recognition events and awards
• Supporting the expansion of this NYC based program to metro NY schools
• Serving as Program Team liaison to the Development & External Affairs department.

Qualifications: The Program Associate should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience working in the non-profit and/or education sector. Candidates should have a minimum of a BA (graduate degree preferred). S/he should have significant management experience and be a skilled facilitator. S/he must be a strong writer, highly articulate and very organized. S/he must have the ability to project manage multiple projects, meeting various deadlines and organizational goals.
