This is a student extracurricular organization website created and run by Common Cents New York, Inc. The opinions expressed on this website shall not be attributed to the Department of Education in any of our affiliate cities.

At Common Cents, we understand that privacy is an important issue for visitors to the Common Cents website, and Common Cents is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its visitors. The following information is designed to help you better understand what information we gather from our site, and how we handle the information once we gather it, whether we disclose it to anyone. Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to this site, and not to any other companies' or organizations' web sites to which we link.

Information Collection and Use
Our primary goal in collecting information is to enable schools to sign up for programs, apply for grants and order materials on-line, and to email news to people who request it. We understand the importance of obtaining parental consent and all other necessary consents before posting information on our web site. Thus, we use reasonable best efforts to obtain such consents. If you have previously given consent for use to post any information on our website, and now wish to withdraw consent, please contact us at info@commoncents.org.

Aggregate Data

In general, we automatically gather certain usage information like the numbers and frequency of visitors to this site. This information may include which URL that you just came from, which URL you next go to, what browser you are using, and your IP address. We only use such data in the aggregate. This collective data helps us determine how much our visitors use parts of the site, and to do internal research on our visitors' interests, and behavior to better understand and serve you and our community and, so that we can improve our site to assure that it is as appealing as we can make it for as many of you as possible.

Additional Information

We also specifically ask for information about the school and the teacher involved in our programs. We may also ask for information regarding grade, borough, recreational activities, community concerns, personal reflections on experience with Common Cents, writings or artwork. We collect this information from schools that join our program online. This information is included in our year-end Grant Report made available to teachers, funders and the public generally.

Donors
Your contact information including your email address is kept private and will not be disclosed to third parties. Common Cents reserves the right to send you future emails including updates and newsletters. Every email we send has an unsubscribe option at the bottom of the email.

E-Newsletters and Mailing List
If you wish to subscribe to our e-newsletter, we require certain contact information so we can make sure you receive the newsletter as requested. Your contact information including your email address is kept private and will not be disclosed to third parties. Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may opt-out of receiving these communications using the specific instructions found at the bottom of each email broadcast.

Policy Towards Children

Common Cents takes special care to protect the privacy and safety of young people using our site. We do not specifically collect information about children and believe that children should get their parents' consent before giving out any personal information.
