OPPORTUNITIES FOR CORPORATIONS

Making a difference in the communities in which we serve includes creating meaningful partnerships with the corporate sector. Common Cents strives to build these connections with corporations thereby allowing us to fulfill our mission to enrich our communities. This support is critical and helps us provide meaningful service-learning opportunities for over 500,000 elementary and middle school students. Corporate partners play a huge role in the continuing success of Common Cents and the Penny Harvest. There are quite a few ways that your company can contribute to improving the education of our children.

Corporate Grants – We are looking to expand our support base and accept one-year and multi-year grants for general operating support to cover program expenses, expansion, curriculum development, renovation, technology and capacity building.

School Sponsorship Opportunities – There are plenty of opportunities for your company to give back to your community and have your contributions noticed. For every $500 donation, your company can sponsor one Penny Harvest school, thus covering ALL of the costs of bringing the Penny Harvest to its students (curriculum, tools, logistics and technical support). For $2,500 your company can be a Borough Sponsor and support one school in each borough. Your company will be honored in our annual publications and events. Sponsors receive an end of year report listing the causes and charities children in their sponsored school decided to support, and have the opportunity to visit their school and see student grant making in action. For more information on the school sponsorship program, please contact Erin Shakespeare at 212-579-0579 x111.

Workplace Harvest – Organize a Penny Harvest in your workplace! We’ll supply you with the materials and know-how, and you and your co-workers supply the change. Once you’ve completed your Penny Harvest, donate them to your local participating school, or you can ship them to our office, where we will see to it that NYC student leaders are given the money and will put it to good use in the local community. Please contact Erin Shakespeare at shakespeare@CommonCents.org for a list of your local schools or for more information.

Corporate Sponsorship – Common Cents offers many opportunities for corporate sponsorship, including our Penny Harvest Field at Rockefeller Center event, an event involving more than 50 million visitors and viewers. For information about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Erin Shakespeare, Deputy Executive Director, Development and External Relations at 212-579-0579 x111 or shakespeare@CommonCents.org.

Matching Gifts – You can also contribute to Common Cents on an individual level by asking your employer if the company has a matching gifts program. By signing up for such a program, your generous donations will have TWICE the impact, allowing us to provide more and more children with the benefits of becoming civically engaged. We are available to make corporate presentations and invite employees to conduct site visits to participating Penny Harvest schools.
