COMMON CENTS TEAM LECTURES AT TUFTS UNIVERSITY

March 13, 2007

Curriculum Fellow Avanti Taneja and Executive Director Teddy Gross guest-lectured March 7 for an undergraduate seminar in the Child Development department at Tufts University.  The 50-minute lecture provided students with a general understanding of the workings of, and theory behind, the Penny Harvest.  Through the Penny Harvest’s example, students were able to connect the theories of effective program design they learn about in class with the workings of an actual youth development program.

The course, “Promoting Positive Youth Development: Applying Developmental Science in the Community” is taught by Professor Richard Lerner, Head Researcher, Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development.

Avanti Taneja graduated with a double major in Child Development and Anthropology from Tufts University before joining Common Cents.  Teddy Gross founded Common Cents in 1991 and is an advocate for children’s participation in their communities.
