VOLUNTEERS PACKAGE PROGRAM MATERIALS

September 3, 2008

New York, NY— Over the weekend of August 22-24, nearly 200 Common Cents volunteers gathered at The School at Columbia to assemble 4,355 boxes of Penny Harvest program materials in preparation for the new school year. The kits included Penny Harvest curriculum, penny bags and the other materials needed by 500,000 students across the country for a successful Penny Harvest year.

This massive volunteer effort is critical in ensuring children have the opportunity to solve real-life community problems, all while learning lessons that will last them a lifetime.

In the coming weeks, Penny Harvest students will once again begin their year-long journey of gathering pennies, making grants and taking action in their communities. Stay tuned to the website as we document the progress of the Penny harvest during the 08/09 school year

Thanks again to the many volunteers who helped, and a special thanks to the volunteer teams from Con Edison, Katzenbach, National Association of Black Accountants and New York Cares.
