September 7, 2012 It seems like it was just yesterday when thousands of students around the country came to their final Roundtable decisions, engaged their classmates and larger school communities in service projects, and hosted some pretty impressive check-award ceremonies and grant presentations. Building off last year’s excitement and successes of launching a new program model to the Penny Harvest called Legacy Service; we are excited to announce the launch of the 2012-2013 Penny Harvest this fall! Brand new to the 2012-2013 Penny Harvest is the launch of a number of key initiatives designed to help make the program easier on our coaches and even more rewarding for the students, parents, and community members that participate. Below are some of the unique changes to this year’s program. New this year: Creative incentives designed to help implement Legacy Service that will add to the value of your Penny Harvest round table and to that of the school as a whole. The new and improved Penny Harvest Online, which will provide streamlined support and help coaches save time from dealing with lengthy report forms. Now, coaches can confirm their contact information and order the specific kit materials they need for their individual schools with the click of a mouse. Another important feature of Penny Harvest Online will be for our Penny Harvest coaches and students to report and share great stories and program progress as it happens! Where’s my school support? Through our partnership with NYC Service and The NYC Civic Corps, our Program Associates (School Support) will start in October and serve through August. In the interim, experienced staff will be available to answer questions and support you in getting ready for the 2012-2013 program launch on Oct. 22. Stay tuned for upcoming training dates in October. We cannot wait to get started on helping our schools usher in a brand new generation of informed and engaged decision-makers and community members.
