Penny Sacks
A full Penny Harvest Sack is worth roughly $50 and weighs 30 pounds. Each year, participating schools are challenged to collect at least 25 penny sacks in order to earn a $1,000 Philanthropy Roundtable budget.
Neighborhood Service Projects
Neighborhood Service Projects are student-led volunteer activities. The budgets for these projects usually range from $0-$500 depending on what supplies, if any, are needed.
Schools of Excellence
Penny Harvest Schools of Excellence are exemplary schools that strive to meet all the principles of the program by fully engaging their entire school community, having a student-led process, and maximizing the benefits to both their students and the greater community.
School Honor Roll
The Penny Harvest School Honor Roll serves to recognize participating schools' commitment to the Penny Harvest. The following is a list of the categories:
- Champions of Philanthropy: Awarded to schools for at least five consecutive years of gathering pennies, making grants, and taking action.
- Ambassadors of Philanthropy: Awarded to schools for at least five consecutive years of gathering pennies and making grants, with at least one year of taking action.
- Leaders of Philanthropy: Awarded to schools for one year of gathering pennies, making grants, and taking action.
- Friends of Philanthropy: Awarded to schools for one year of gathering pennies and/or making grants.
Coach
A coach is the Penny Harvest-trained facilitator in each school in charge of guiding students through the full-year of program activities.
Student Leaders
Student Leaders are a select group of students in charge of motivating and leading their peers through all phases of the Penny Harvest.
